Welcome to Third Grade! My name is Erica Lundy, and with 10 years of elementary teaching experience, and a current professorial position as part of California State University Northridge’s Teacher Preparation Program Faculty, I have both the passion, intuition and the research based pedagogical knowledge to help all students thrive in the classroom.
As a recipient of the Presidential Award in Excellence in Mathematics and Science Teaching, presented in Washington D.C. earlier this year, I ardently believe that all students are capable of learning in STEM areas and hope to find a school setting that shares this philosophy. I ascribe to Socrates words, “Wisdom begins in wonder” and hope to inspire my students to be inquisitive in all content areas. After completing my first publication in the What Works in Elementary Series exploring best practices in STEAM and currently working with NASA Endeavor project writing curricula, I feel most qualified to teach at a school who supports innovation and integration of STEM activities.
Encouragement, patience, creativity, and research supported curricula are the keys to unlocking every child’s potential. I have aspired to create a classroom environment in which all children can feel comfortable, safe, and motivated to achieve their highest imaginings and beyond.
I strive to inspire every child to find passion in what interests them. When this happens, every day becomes a remarkable experience and they are motivated and engaged to seek knowledge independently.
